:bookdiva:
The written Chinese Han-zi letters ChangChunTeng(長春籐) are as same as Japanese Kanji letters, although those three-letters-in-one-set identify "Common-ivy aka English-ivy (Hedera helix L.)" in Chinese languages, besides it is well known as Hedera (straightly "Hedera" as Japanese pronunciation of "Hedera helix") among the Japanese languages.
:moon: There are several more names for "Common-Ivy aka English-Ivy (Hedera helix L.)" in Chinese languages ... i.e. ChangChunTeng(almost same pronunciation but written in other letter-set 常春籐), TuGuTeng(土鼓籐) etc.,
:shoutbox: Literally the meaning of "Chang" as "long, forever", "Chun" as "spring-time, joyful" and "Teng" as "climbing-plants, vines, cane" in Chinese-Mandarin, it means somehow "long spring-time cane" ... however, the first two-letters-in-one-set Chang-Chun(長春) specially identify "Changchun - one of the prefecture-level-city in northeast China) ... so it also means "Changchun's cane(ivy)" in Chinese-Mandarin too ... :)
:moon: Recently among Chinese languages, the difference between "Teng(籐) of Zi-Teng(紫籐) - wisteria" and "Teng(藤) of Teng-Man(藤蔓) - vine" might be mixed up ... :p

:shoutbox: The ancestors of all Japanese English-Ivy (Hedera helix L.) are of course from Europe via many other countries ... They arrived here around Meiji era, not only for "ground cover" but showing us their beautiful leaf variations mainly as horticultural plants. ... :)
:moon: Vigorous growing vine or "ground-cover" with palmately lobed green foliage of these "air-cleaning-plants" clean the chemicals out of the air while they humidify and oxygenate their surroundings .... :)
:moon: Most of their leaves have different shapes between "juvenile" and "adult" leaves ....
:shoutbox: Note ! "Common-ivy aka English-Ivy (Hedera helix L.)" is not a "Species" of "Genus - Parthenocissus", but is a "Species" of "Genus -hedera" like "Japanese Fuyuzuta aka Kizuta (Hedera rhombea)" ... :p
